A bad day

A client reached out yesterday.

He was feeling terrible because he had in his words ” ate a load of shite on saturday”.

He had to work a double shift that was was unplanned and he got tired and made poor food choices.

This is not unusual, its life, this kind of thing happens all the time.

What was unusual was he has been training with me for 6 weeks and this is the first real blip he had.

I told him he had 2 options in front of him Sunday:

Option A

Forget about saturday, get his training session done, practice his daily habits and eat well.

Option B

Feel sorry for yourself, skip training and eat more “shite”.

He chose A and was feeling better by yesterday evening.

As a coach I welcome these moments because they are an excellent opportuninty to learn.

This client has made great progress so far, losing over 8kg’s, but still he thought one day that wasn’t on plan was failing.

One day of eating too much isnt going to make you fat the same as one day of eating well is going to make you lose fat.

Consistency is the key and he has been excellent in that regard so far.

The best way to learn is from your mistakes. After a “bad day” you always have a choice, you can turn it into a “bad weekend” or a “bad week” by saying fuck it I’m after messing up now so whats the point or you can get back on track as quickly as possible and continue making progress.

This is often a hard choice to make unless you are very strong mentally.

This client made the right choice because he has the accountability that is needed for most people to succeed.
